She could not raise money. So she built the fix.
She built an embedded-systems company, then the app store at HP. Then she came home and opened up angel investing for Indian startups.
Before LetsVenture, Shanti Mohan went looking for seed funding for an earlier venture and found the process closed and hard to navigate – who to approach, what terms were normal, how any of it worked.
She got through it. The difficulty stayed with her.
In 2013 she built LetsVenture to make discovery and connection transparent for founders and investors alike. She built the thing that would have helped her.
Here is what that means for you today:
The problem that beat you is the one you understand best.
We all have one. The supplier who cheated you. The paperwork nobody could explain. The loan you could not get. The thing you needed and could not find anywhere.
We file those as bad experiences and move on.
But you know that problem better than almost anyone – where it hurts, what you tried, what nobody told you, what would have made it bearable. That is research most people would pay for. And there is another woman behind you about to hit the same wall, with nobody to ask.
So look at your worst business experience of the last three years. Not to relive it. To ask whether anyone has fixed it yet.
