Impress your boyfriend’s parents with your first visit! Here are some tips for your rescue!

Meeting your boyfriend’s parents can be a huge step for your relationship. If your partner is willing to introduce you to their parents, they have immense trust in you. Nervous? Flustered? Excited? Adrenaline rush? Here are some tips for making your first impression a perfect one!

1. TALK TO YOUR PARTNER
Converse with your partner about the way you feel about visiting their parents. Don’t be shy to inform your partner if you are not ready for this step. A relationship doesn’t need to be on the same page as your partner. Talk to him about his parents, their behaviour and some childhood memories too!

2. WEAR THIS COLOUR!
According to colour psychology, grey symbolises neutrality, balance and calmness as it’s between black and white. Cool, isn’t it? Wear your most comfortable grey clothes. DON’T GO FOR FLUORESCENT COLOURS. Don’t freak out if you don’t have any grey dresses. Stay calm and radiate positivity.

3. TAKE A GIFT!
Growing up in Indian households, we are taught not to go without any gift to other’s houses. Don’t purchase anything too expensive as it’ll make the other person awkward to accept the same. Go for a box of chocolates or cookies.

4. BE YOURSELF!
Don’t act too kind or too nervous. Treat your partner’s family as yours and the situation will be good to go! Answer their questions with confidence and help themselves with cooking. Stat confident and let your actions speak for you. Don’t act out anything you’ll never do as your normal self.

5. BE GENUINELY INTERESTED!
Ask them about their daily routines and be a patient listener. Don’t cut their sentence in between or dwell on too much information. Be polite and suggest to them some of your hobbies.
Bonus tip: Don’t rush things by talking about the future. Take one thing at a time. Don’t think too much about answering a question.
